Elections and Voter Engagement Civic Campaign - 2018 Sarajevo Fellowship

Fellows designed an educational board game to engage and educate students on the democractic processes of Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the 2018 Humanity in Action Fellowship in Sarajevo.

Setting out to counter disinterest and powerlessness felt far too often by voters, particularly among the youngest demographic, Fellows from the Humanity in Action 2018 Sarajevo Fellowship program created (Ne)Glasam - a civic education board game designed to educate participants on the complex electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to assist them in articulating questions to further an understanding of political processes in general and of one's ability to hold politicians accountable. 

The game was introduced at a launch event held at the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Political Science, where over 50 people attended and played. Receiving an overwhelmingly positive response, and gain so much attention that the national television station Ni Televizija broadcasted an interview with Jasmin Hasic, the Director of the Sarajevo Fellowship., further increasing the game's reach. The desired outcome of this game is that participants gain a deeper understanding of the political system and civic engagement, learn how to access and understand political platforms and to get in touch with political party representatives, and realize the importance of political engagement. A digital version of the game will be launched in the future.
